Challenge

Managing complex multi-CAD environments for 8,500 global users with outdated Java-dependent myPLM system, creating security and performance concerns.

Solution

Migration to myPLM V2 with modernized interface, Java-free architecture, and enhanced license management capabilities.

Result

Seamless weekend migration, improved user experience, enhanced security, and scalable foundation for future growth.

TECHNIA has maintained a long-standing partnership with a multinational automobile manufacturer, building trustful relationships across different regions and products over many years. The collaboration encompasses multiple TECHNIA solutions including Q-Checker, CAVA licenses across different regions, and myPLM supporting 8,500 users, making the company the second biggest myPLM user globally. This extensive partnership demonstrates TECHNIA’s ability to scale solutions for complex, multinational engineering operations.

The company’s engineering team required a solution that would preserve the investment in myPLM while addressing security requirements, improving user experience, and maintaining operational continuity during the transition for thousands of users worldwide.

Ensuring security, usability, and performance at scale

  • The Java dependency created security concerns, especially with TÜV (Technischer Überwachungsverein – Technical Inspection Association) certifications in Germany.
  • The aging user interface needed modernization.
  • Performance optimization was required for the large scale of operations.

Redesigning myPLM for security, simplicity, and scalability

  • myPLM V2 eliminated Java dependency, addressing security concerns while accelerating the usage of complex CAx environments such as CATIA, 3DEXPERIENCE, Siemens NX, and PTC Creo.
  • The XML configuration of myPLM V2 maintained similarity to myPLM V5, allowing the experienced teams to leverage existing skills and knowledge while testing and implementing the new system independently.
  • Complete redevelopment using C# and WebView technologies created an intuitive, professional interface with enhanced features including zoom capability for high-resolution screens, active directory integration, dark mode, and multi-language support.
  • Enhanced license management capabilities, allowing users to switch between different CAD environments effortlessly, making it easier to collaborate on projects that require multiple systems.
  • Our services team provided comprehensive support through demonstrations, testing phases, and detailed configuration discussions to ensure smooth transition.

A secure, scalable, and user-centric PLM environment

  • Complete migration of 8,500 users accomplished over a single weekend, combining CATIA Release 32 to Release 34 upgrade with myPLM V2 transition without major issues.
  • Elimination of Java dependency addressed TüV certification requirements and improved overall system security posture.
  • The Modern interface with enhanced functionality received positive feedback, with users appreciating the professional appearance and intuitive operation.
  • Leveraging the existing myPLM expertise enabled rapid adaptation to the new system with minimal training requirements.
  • myPLM V2 streamlines complex CAx environments by managing multiple releases, license configurations, and add-on tools, paving the way to accelerate the usage and future.

This project illustrates the strength of our enduring partnership, where mutual trust, shared vision, and collaborative innovation enable meaningful transformation together. Through ongoing partnership and regular collaborative sessions, we work together to continuously optimize performance and enhance features, ensuring our solution grows alongside evolving needs.
