Lightning Strike Simulation at European Electric Aerospace Company

This European Aerospace Startup discovered the perfect solution for lightning strike simulations, EMC, and cable crosstalk investigations.

The startup’s mission is to create the world’s greenest, most affordable, and most accessible form of transport. They’re developing a regional electric airplane with a standard seating capacity of 30 passengers driven by electric motors with battery derived energy.

How did this aerospace startup come to choose CST Studio Suite?

The purchasing of a CST license is the result of a year-long search and evaluation of the electromagnetic (EM) software tools that are available on the market.

As newcomers to EM simulation, the team were performing the assessment whilst learning about simulation and electromagnetics in general, so it was particularly important for them to have an elevated level of support so that they could achieve some simulation goals during trial license periods.

As well as support, they evaluated how intuitive the software was to use and made full use of the given examples and built-in help resources.

CST came out as our favorite in all these aspects and with the excellent support provided by the guys at TECHNIA, we felt confident to proceed with a license purchase and to ‘get straight to work’.

Why CST Studio Suite for lightning strike simulation?

CST came out as their favorite in all these aspects and with the excellent support provided by the guys at TECHNIA, they felt confident to proceed with a license purchase and to ‘get straight to work’. In addition to the ease of use, learning resources and support, they found CST to be the best developed of the software that they trialled, with everything behaving as expected (no bugs) and easily relatable to tasks of high complexity. It was only their developing understanding of physics that created issues, but CSTs logical workflow, identifies problems and shows how to correct errors, further facilitating the learning process.
