How do you create an exploded view and use it in a drawing?
Creating an exploded view involves using the Design Review application to manipulate components and save their positions as a “slide.” This slide can then be used to generate an exploded view in a drawing. Follow these steps:
- Prepare the assembly:
- Open the assembly you want to explode.
- Right-click on the root product and insert a markup. Name it appropriately (e.g., “exploded view markup”).
- Switch to design review:
- Go to the design review application from the app switcher.
- Create a slide:
- Use the slide tool (camera icon) to create a new slide. This captures the current state of your assembly, including part positions and visibility.
- Manipulate parts:
- Use tools like the robot manipulator or compass to manually move parts into their exploded positions.
- Update the slide by right-clicking on it and selecting Update Slide.
- Save and exit markup:
- Once satisfied with the exploded arrangement, save your slide.
- Right-click on the markup and select unset current to exit design review mode.
- Insert exploded view into drawing:
- Open or create a drawing for your assembly.
- Insert an isometric or other desired view.
- Select the slide (exploded view) from the specification tree before placing the view in the drawing.
- Enhance drawing quality:
- In the drawing’s properties, enable raster mode with high quality and select shading with edges for better visualization.
