Course objectives
CATIA 3D Functional Tolerancing and Annotation (FT&A) is a CATIA product allowing easy definition and management of tolerance specifications and annotations of 3D parts and products. FT&A allows customers to reduce their reliance on 2D drawings and instead increase the use of 3D as the master representation. The product also allows users to check the correctness of all the annotations of the active product or part relating to the standard used.
The course includes a mixture of presentation, tutorial and exercises, enabling students to gain hands-on experience. Course sizes are intentionally kept small, typically 6 students. This allows our
trainers to meet the requirements of individual students, while relating course content to work related issues.
This course covers the following content:
- What is ‘GD&T’ and the benefits of employing it.
- What is ‘Model Based Definition’ and the benefits of this approach.
- Introduction to the toolbars and FT&A commands.
- How to generate view planes within a model.
- What are projected views, Section Views and Section Cut Views.
- How to create Camera views and Captures.
- Introduction to the Tolerance Advisor tool.
- How to create Datum Reference Frames.
- How to apply GD&T to a simple model (examples of Form/Orientation/Location/Profile/Runout).
- How to apply notes and other annotations from outside of the Tolerance Advisor tool.
- How to create model-driven 2D Drawings.
- Recap and review
