William V. Mars from Endurica LLC presents ‘Simulating the Combined Effects of Ageing and Fatigue on Elastomer Durability with Endurica DT’.
In this webinar you will discover the incremental fatigue analysis framework in the Endurica DT fatigue solver has been extended to incorporate ageing effects. The following material parameters can now be made to depend on the aged state of the material: stiffness, fatigue threshold T0, rupture strength Tc and powerlaw slope F. Each parameter is specified via an experimentally defined table-lookup function.
The kinetic behavior of the ageing model is defined using an Arrhenius-based equivalent time model. Crack growth and equivalent ageing exposure time are both tracked. Since stiffness evolution may lead to changes in applied strain and stress, an incremental solution workflow has been implemented that allows for iterative co-simulation steps.
Co-simulation steps allow the finite element solution to be updated periodically to reflect current stress-strain behavior. An example is demonstrated via the example of a tension specimen operating under the influence of a temperature gradient.
