Contact is one of the best features of Abaqus, and one of the most challenging to use well. We’ll discuss the basics of how contact is defined and think about why contact makes convergence so difficult.

We will go into some of the more advanced topics, such as how Abaqus treats initial overclosures and what can be done about convergence issues that occur due to a lack of contact.

Finally, the implicit and explicit solvers will be compared, especially related to contact. This session includes demos to showcase the options discussed.
