Can you create custom drawing templates in CATIA?
Customized drawing templates streamline the drafting process by standardizing title blocks, borders, and other elements. This ensures consistency across projects, reduces manual effort, and minimizes errors. Templates can include company-specific details like logos, revision ladders, and material properties, saving time and improving documentation quality.
- To create a custom drawing template
- Open a new drawing:
- Go to file > new, select drawing, and choose a sheet size (e.g., A4, A3).
- Switch to background mode
- Right-click on the sheet in the specification tree and select edit background.
- Design the frame and title block
- Use tools from the drawing toolbar (e.g., lines, rectangles, text) to create your frame and title block.
- Add fields for details like “drawn by,” “checked by,” and “revision number.”
- Insert text fields for attributes
- Use the text with attribute link tool to link text fields to model properties (e.g., material, mass).
- Save as a template
- Exit background mode by right-clicking on the sheet and selecting edit working views.
- Save the file as a .CATDrawing template for reuse.
