How do you use dynamic sectioning?
Dynamic sectioning is a visualization tool that allows users to create real-time cross-sections of parts and assemblies. It helps in inspecting internal structures, analyzing interferences, and improving design clarity without altering the actual model. This tool is particularly useful during design reviews and for large assemblies. To use dynamic sectioning:
- Access the tool
- Navigate to the space analysis toolbar in the assembly design workbench.
- Click the dynamic sectioning icon.
- Create a section plane
- Select a reference plane (e.g., XY, YZ, or ZX) or a specific face on the model.
- A red section plane will appear at the selected position.
- Manipulate the section plane
- Move: Drag the plane along its normal direction to adjust its position.
- Rotate: Use rotational handles to tilt the plane at an angle.
- Resize: Drag edges to adjust the size of the section plane.
- Inspect the model
- View internal details dynamically as you move or rotate the section plane.
- Dynamic sections are temporary and do not modify the model.
- To save a section
- Use the export section option to save it as a new part or drawing.
- Alternatively, capture screenshots for documentation purposes.
Here are some tips for using dynamic sectioning effectively
- Use clash detection alongside section views to identify interferences in assemblies.
- Combine section planes with volume cuts for detailed analysis.
- Adjust section plane settings (e.g., manual or automatic updates) based on assembly size to optimize performance.
