Can you manage CATSettings for multiple versions of CATIA?
By default, CATIA stores user preferences and customizations in a shared folder called CATSettings. When multiple versions of CATIA are installed on the same machine, they may attempt to overwrite these settings, leading to conflicts, licensing issues, or unexpected behavior. To avoid such problems, it is recommended to separate the CATSettings folder for each version of CATIA.
To configure unique CATSettings folders for each version of CATIA, follow these steps:
- Locate the environment file
- Navigate to the directory: C:\ProgramData\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv.
- Identify the environment file corresponding to your CATIA version (e.g., CATIA.V5-6R2017.B27.txt).
- Edit the environment file
- Open the file with a text editor.
- Find the line containing CATUserSettingPath=CSIDL_APPDATA\DassaultSystemes\CATSettings.
- Modify the folder path
- Change the default folder name (e.g., CATSettings) to a unique name for each version (e.g., CATSettingsR27 or CATSettings_B29).
- Save and apply
- Save the changes and close the file.
- Repeat this process for each installed version of CATIA.
- Restart CATIA
- Launch each version of CATIA to ensure it creates and uses its dedicated settings folder.
