Can you stop CATIA crashing when creating a view?

To prevent CATIA from crashing when creating a new drawing view of a large assembly, consider changing the view generation setting. The default ‘Exact View’ mode, which uses exact geometry, may consume too much memory for large assemblies. Alternatives include:

CGR view mode: Utilizes CATIA graphical representation for a visual representation, reducing memory usage but not suitable for section views.

Approximate view mode: Allows adjustment of the ‘Level-of-Detail’ (LOD) to balance between speed and detail. Start with a low LOD and increase as needed.

Exclude small parts: In large assemblies, excluding small components (e.g., screws, washers) from the view can further reduce memory load. This can be done by setting a minimum part size threshold in tools > options > mechanical design > drafting > view tab.

These settings aim to manage memory usage more efficiently and reduce the likelihood of crashes during view generation.
