No further Support

Mozilla have ended support for NPAPI Applets in their Firefox browser. The NPAPI Applet is a technology used by Java, thus Mozilla are effectively ending support for Java applets. This change took place in Firefox update 53 (scheduled on 18th April 2017), and will carry forward into later releases. (The change will also affect Firefox ESR at the 45.9 and 52.1 releases).

Using Dassault Systèmes’ Applications

Some web applications in Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and legacy V6 products use Java applets, so will not function properly if Firefox is used at the above release or later.

Below is a table summarizing the affected applications:

 V6  3DEXPERIENCE
ENOVIA Designer Central  ENOVIA X-CAD Design Management
ENOVIA Live Collaboration  ENOVIA Collaboration and Approvals
ENOVIA Synchronicity DesignSync Data Manager  ENOVIA Synchronicity DesignSync Data Manager
 ENOVIA Aerospace & Defence Accelerator
for Program Management
 ENOVIA Program and Contract Management
ENOVIA Program Central  ENOVIA Project Management
ENOVIA IP Export Accelerator  ENOVIA IP Controlled Access

If you wish to continue using Mozilla Firefox at an earlier release, you can prevent Firefox from automatically updating by turning off automatic updates in the browser.

Alternatively, Microsoft Internet Explorer (at the latest release) should be used, which will continue support for NPAPI applets for the foreseeable future. (Note that Google Chrome has already removed support for NPAPI applets).
