The Code of PLM Openness (CPO) is an initiative of ProSTEP iViP e.V. with the objective of establishing a consistent understanding of the IT systems in the field of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).

The Code of PLM Openness (CPO) is intended to create a collective understanding as a basis for the further development of IT systems and processes in PLM between IT providers, IT integrators and IT customers. Its aim is to ensure that data generated in a company is continuously available for use throughout the whole PLM process.

The CPO defines criteria for the openness of IT solutions, which are applied in PLM. This includes the interoperability for an efficient communication, integrability (for infrastructure) and functional extensibility. Additionally, interfaces and standards for data formats are defined and transparency in the architecture is required.

Any company, from any part of the world and independent of a membership in the ProSTEP iViP association, may cooperate in the CPO initiative. The CPO is an instrument for transparency in terms of openness on the basis of voluntary commitments.

TECHNIA Supports the CPO Initiative

TECHNIA is a member of the CPO initiative and thus supports the opportunity to provide faster access to innovations and technological progress in the PLM systems world. The openness of systems is a key element for us to create an optimum and integrated system landscape for our customers.

“From the beginning, the development of our software was intended to support open standards and to give our software solutions an open and integrable design. TECHNIA cooperates in the definition of open standards, e.g. in the field of data quality, through many years of cooperation in the workgroups of the VDA (German association of the automotive industry) and the SASIG (strategic automotive product data standards industry group)”, explains Dr. Paolo Santarelli, Director of Software Division, and adds: “Also for our Lite3D platform, which allows for the corporation-wide use of 3D data, we have cooperated in research groups of ProSTEP iViP to formulate, establish and implement open standards. We develop what our customers expect, and that is open systems and applications based on standards.”
