Scania investes in Matrix from Technia AB

Stockholm, October 1998 - Technia AB has reached an agreement with Scania CV AB to globally implement Matrix PDM-system for management of all Scania's CAD-models and drawings on a worldwide basis.

"Scania will upgrade their complete CAD-archive. Matrix will provide easy and secure access to all models and drawings for product and tooling design." said Jonas Gejer - Sales Executive Technia AB. "We hope that Scania will continue the implementation into other areas after the initial project. Focus in the initial project is to replace existing systems and provide new functionality through WEB-technology and electronic release and approval for CAD-data".

"Scania is for Technia another leading Nordic Company choosing Technia and the Matrix system. Technia has secured some significant contracts lately in both Sweden and Finland" said Staffan Hanstorp, President Technia AB.

"The selection of Technia and Matrix has been based upon an evaluation and a definition project, this has resulted in a clearly defined scope of delivery" -explains Per Holst, Manager IS/IT Product Development and Folke Bågstam, Manager Information Technology Workshops, Scania CV AB.

The selection of Matrix is based upon the following criteria's that is important to Scania:

An Architecture which a supports an Object oriented way of thinking and functionality which will be deployed through the module Business Modeler
Strong Flexibility and tailorability that allows dynamic changing of the system while in production.
Use of both desktop Unix and WEB-clients
Strong capabilities for implementing new releases of Matrix with existing implementation and configuration including Scania specific adaptations.
Capability of meeting Scanias requirements through standard functionality.
"Technia as a system supplier will ensure that Scania will have control over the delivery including functionality, costs and delivery timing" continues Per Holst and Folke Bågstam.

The project is divided into three phases with a total duration of One Year, and more that 2500 users at Scania and Partners will be using the system.
