Your PLM expertise area?
I have been active within the area PDM and PLM approximately 15 years, mainly as a consultant within implementation of PDM/PLM-systems. In that role I have had commissions on several of Sweden's big industrial companies with formulation, adaptation and maintenance of theirs PDM/PLM systems.
Since the middle of 2007 I am PLM Application Manager on Micronic Laser Systems AB. My task here is to make sure that our system ENOVIA SmarTeam functions in daily operation. I also design how our system support for PLM will develop and above all how the operation will be formulated for effective product life cycles now and in the future.
Why is PLM important for your company?
Micronic Laser Systems AB delivers high-technological machines for the production of photo masks for production of monitors and semiconductors. Each delivered machine is unique and comprises in the magnitude 5000 unique components with a mixture of high precision's mechanics, electronics, computers and software.
It is extremely important for us to keep an update on each machines’ configuration and how it changes over its life cycle. It means that a system with qualified PLM-support is very important for our activity. Micronic has had a distinct PLM-focus during many years, but there will be much more to win on an additional improvement of the processes and more effective use of the aid that a powerful PLM-system can contribute with.
What has Technia helped your company with, within the PLM area?
We are now together with Technia doing a large review of our ENOVIA ENOVIA SmarTeam-solution in order to improve our PLM-support. Our existing implementations suffer from being adapted with a large IT and Application focus. Now we want to focus on a higher grade of using our systems’ strengths regarding out-of-the-box. We have a large confidence in Technia's long experience within PLM-enterprise and have large expectations that we together will formulate one PLM-environment where we effectively can manage the PDM-data and get a stable and high-quality ground for all our products' life cycle.
What do you think about the importance of PLM (in your industry/all industries) in the future?
PLM is a large concept that hardly can have its solution in one system. Normally those systems use only ranges over the ground concept for PDM. With qualified products like ours and one after market that means service, upgrading and improvements of delivered systems it is very important to have control on what a delivered system comprises and how it is configured and which measures that have been done through the product's life cycle. The better PLM-system and the better quality and range of data that are stored in PLM-system the more effectively and cost-effectively the products can be handled. To have good control on your data during the entire product life cycle can probably be seen as essential for a company like ours.
