Advanced Product Quality Planning

Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) is a quality framework that ensures quality products are delivered on time and at the lowest cost. Using tools such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), a methodology for analyzing potential reliability problems, APQP identifies issues early in the development cycle when they are easier and less expensive to overcome. The early and consistent use of FMEAs in the design process allows engineers to prevent failures in the design phase and produce highly reliable, safe and marketable products.

However, OEMs and their suppliers must manage all the burdensome administration required for the APQP process—including management and tracking of all product development deliverables, such as design specifications and FMEAs. Efficient, streamlined administration practices are needed to avoid delays in the design and development process.

The ENOVIA MatrixOne Automotive Accelerator for Program Management enables manufacturers to streamline execution—eliminating the manual administrative drain of managing the documents and entire APQP process—while adhering to AIAG standards. Quality is improved in less time, at a lower cost and with fewer resources required to manage the process. The ENOVIA MatrixOne Automotive Accelerator allows OEMs and their suppliers to deliver products to market more efficiently with:

  • Decreased design change costs as a result of FMEAs that identify issues early in the development cycle when they’re less expensive to overcome.
  • Enhanced product quality through improved communication between cross-functional teams and suppliers and simplified tracking of PPAP submission deliverables.
  • On-time, on-budget product launches due to enhanced management dashboard visibility and risk mitigation for new vehicle programs from concept to launch.

Automotive industry leaders such as Autoliv, Eaton, Honda, and Johnson Controls are driving success by using our solutions to:

  • Automate their own preferred product cycles, from concept and design through field service
  • Expedite collaboration with all appropriate departments, partners, and customers based on MatrixOne's 100% Web-centric architecture
  • Track and maintain previous revisions - while supporting and improving any number of current and future versions - using flexible, fine-grained change management capabilities
  • Execute workflows that simplify and speed response to what is becoming a build-to-order marketplace
  • Enable every plant and division to bring MatrixOne functions into their own settings, without disturbing current operations, by taking advantage of MatrixOne integration capabilities
  • Make the adjustments necessary to handle the unique issues of each project with the flexible, open-system architecture of the eMatrix platform
From the smallest suppliers and component manufacturers through the big-name auto makers themselves, companies in the automotive industry are at the forefront of product collaboration, and they are working with MatrixOne to drive their success.
