Aerospace / Defense

Managing Aerospace and Defense (A&D) programs is very challenging. The product itself—which often stretches the limits of technology—is usually difficult enough, but ensuring compliance with all contractual requirements and regulations while sticking to promised schedules is the source of many headaches. Having been in the vanguard of adoption of many IT solutions over the years, the A&D community is unfortunately left with a mix of specialist tools which share information poorly at best. The resulting gaps cause miss-communication, errors and time delays. To meet all contractual obligations in a reliable and efficient way takes a solution that integrates the critical information of the program management domain in one consistent whole.

The MatrixOne Aerospace & Defense Accelerator for Program Management from ENOVIA MatrixOne provides such an environment. In it, the information about requirements, product architecture and configuration, projects and schedules and deliverables are all integrated to improve the overall performance of delivery-to-contract.

The solution capabilities include:

  • Requirements, whether contractual or technical, are captured for sharing with the extended team and decomposed to the level of detail needed for precise management and traceability
  • The product is defined conceptually to identify configuration, functional and physical items which may include support equipment and other non-product items. These items become the references for collections of conceptual designs and analyses
  • Requirements are allocated to conceptual items to ensure proper distribution to development and test teams and ensure later traceability
  • The product variants and their serial-number builds can be established to convey functional intent and ensure precision of subsequent test planning and execution
  • Outline projects with critical milestones and deliverables are defined and linked to the product architectures
  • CDRL and SDRL requirements and their deliverables are defined as tasks for assignment and future completion
  • Roadmap and dashboard views provide real-time, clickable summary information on the condition of the program
