Tenix Defence Selects PLM Solutions from MatrixOne

MatrixOne Provides Australian Defense Contractor with Collaborative PLM Environment

Westford, Mass. - September 9, 2003 - MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONE), a leading provider of collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for the value chain™, today announced that Tenix Defence Land Division, a division of the largest Australian-owned Defense Contractor, has selected MatrixOne's PLM solutions for the configuration management of the Australian Army's M113 Family of Armored Vehicles Upgrade project. The use of MatrixOne's PLM solutions will allow Tenix Defence to accurately and effectively manage product data throughout the entire product development process, from inception to manufacturing.

Tenix Defence, with core capabilities in Aerospace, Land, Marine and Electronic Systems, selected MatrixOne after a thorough two-year evaluation of over 30 PLM suppliers and chose MatrixOne's solutions as a result of their flexibility, performance and ease of implementation.

As a contractor to the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA), Tenix Defence is required to meet the CoA's mandated military standards and is subject to a structured Design Review process,' which requires the collection of information packages that consist of drawings, 3D CAD models, specifications, test results and Bill of Materials (BOM) information.

The ability of MatrixOne's Engineering Central™ to achieve CM11 certification by the Institute of Configuration Management also played an important role in Tenix Defence's vendor selection and will help in communicating system requirements to the CoA. The first stage of implementation has already been completed and will be used to manage the huge amounts of data generated by the Australian Army's M113 Family of Armored Vehicles Upgrade project.

As a result of this implementation, Tenix's existing New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change (EC) processes have been modeled through MatrixOne's Engineering Central to form the foundation of a Configuration Management platform. In addition, the implementation has included integration into CATIA v5 and Tenix's existing MRP system.

"Tenix Defence is the largest Australian-owned defense contractor with core capabilities in Aerospace, Land, Marine and Electronic Systems," said Andy Kalambi, vice president and managing director for MatrixOne Asia Pte. Ltd. "They are a welcome addition to our growing worldwide customer base and another proof point of the power that PLM delivers to customers in a wide range of industries."
